Marine mammal charities shortlisted for WILDGuides sponsorship award
28th January 2003

As part of our continued commitment to supporting conservation, WILDGuides recently requested that organisations from the marine mammal charitable sector submit applications for funding through sales of our forthcoming guide 'Whales and Dolphins of the North American Pacific'. "The number of applications was overwhelming," said project manager and co-author of the guide, Dylan Walker. "We would like to thank all 15 charities who submitted a wide range of excellent applications". So far, the awarding committee have shortlisted three organisations that submitted outstanding applications. All three, the American Cetacean Society, International Fund for Animal Welfare and ORCA Network participate directly in marine mammal conservation projects in the eastern North Pacific, and play an important role in providing educational material for the general public. Either one or two charities will be chosen from the final shortlist, with a final decision likely to be made during the autumn of 2003.
