The latest addition to our series of guides to Britain's wildlife was launched last week at the BBC Gardener's World Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Following on from the highly acclaimed 'Britain's Butterflies', 'Britain's Dragonflies' is the second field guide to be produced in partnership with English Nature (following 'Arable Plants - a field guide'). The guide was launched at the spectacular English Nature stand, which mimicked a real wildlife garden, complete with wildflower borders and a superb pond!
Authors Andy Swash and Dave Smallshire were on-hand throughout the first day of the show, passing on their expert knowledge on dragonflies and how to attract them into the garden. On the following days WILDGuides' Dylan Walker and Trevor Codlin participated as part of the English Nature team of experts, answering questions on all aspects of wildlife gardening and assisting the public with identifying their dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and even arable plants! During the few quieter moments, there was even an opportunity to dress up as a life-sized frog and relax in the giant deck chair - it's amazing what some people will do for attention!
The WILDGuides team would like to thank the English Nature events team for inviting us to this event and for their assistance. WILDGuides material will shortly be on show at the English Nature stand at the Royal Show.
